How to Order a History Report from Your Auto Insurance Broker in Vancouver
by adminIf you’ve ever purchased an auto insurance policy before, you know how tricky it can be. Many things can affect the kind of rate you can get, including your age and even the kind of car you drive. Your driving history will factor in here as well, so the first thing your auto insurance broker in Vancouver will need to do is to check your auto history report.
An auto insurance history report is a track record of your driving and insurance history. Many insurance companies use a large database called AutoPlus to find a complete and detailed history of your auto insurance record by inputting your driver’s licence number.
This allows the broker to see a list of all the vehicles you’ve ever insured and which companies you’ve had policies with, as well as any claims that you’ve made or have been made against you.
They will also be able to see if you’ve ever missed an insurance payment.
Companies use them to determine what kind of rate you are eligible for. You cannot ensure a vehicle until this auto insurance history report has been ordered. To save time, you can order your report to give to your auto insurance broker in Vancouver.
One huge benefit to ordering your own auto insurance history report is that it gives you access to all the answers that your auto insurance broker is going to ask you. This speeds up the process because you won’t have to look very hard to find information like dates and addresses, licence plates, vehicle models, years and makes.
There are a few other reasons you might want to order an auto history report, such as if you’re moving to a new province or out of the country, your employer has requested one, or if you want to contest something made in a claim against you.
If you’d like to order your AutoPlus report, simply visit the CGI website and fill out the CGI Consumer AutoPlus Request Form. CGI is maintaining the database for all insurance policies in Canada, including personal and commercial insurance. This is the only way to order an auto history report.
At the bottom of the CGI Consumer AutoPlus Request Form, you will need to make your signature. You can then either scan the document and email it to insurance.helpdesk@cji.com or mail it. The mailing address is
CGI Technical Assistance Centre
5800 St. Denis, 7th floor
Montreal, PQ, H2S 3L5
There is some information you will need to have available to fill out the CHI Consumer AutoPlus Request Form. When you go to fill it out, be sure to have your current driver’s licence number ready, as well as your current insurance company and policy number, if applicable. Include your phone number and email address. When you fill out your name, include your full name, including a middle name if that is what is on your driver’s licence.
You will need to provide your original signature, so you will need access to a printer and scanner, or else you will have to send it in the mail.
Finally, you will need to disclose the reason for requesting an auto history report. Choose a reason from the drop list that’s available to choose from.
